The American Red Cross offers a free presentation, "Together We Prepare," about potential disasters, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Clatsop Service Center, 1054 Exchange St.

Attendees will learn what potential disasters can occur in the Northwest and how to protect themselves following a disaster. All participants will receive a free copy of "Together We Prepare Oregon," a wallet-sized emergency contacts card.

Kids can learn safety skillsA "When I'm In Charge" class for children ages 8 to 10 will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 24 at the Clatsop Service Center, 1054 Exchange St.

The course is designed to show children how to respond safely to a variety of home-alone situations. They will be taught skills such as gun safety, Internet safety, personal safety, family communications, sibling care and basic emergency care. Cost of the course is $15. To preregister, call 325-4721.
