Donald Dennis Doran, 91, of Portland, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, in Portland.

Mr. Doran was born Sept. 7, 1914 in Astoria to Daniel Dennis and Martha (Hansen) Doran.

Mr. Doran graduated from Astoria High School and served as a captain in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II. He was a manager at Van Camp Seafood Co. in Astoria and canneries in San Diego, American Samoa and Puerto Rico. He retired in 1978 after 31 years in the seafood business.

He married Winifred Erickson Nov. 2, 1940. She survives, residing in Portland.

Mr. Doran was a past exalted ruler and life member of the Astoria Elks Lodge No. 180.

The Dorans lived in Long Beach, Calif., for a few years before moving to Portland in 1978.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Doran is survived by three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Marie Young, Frances and George Crandall of Portland and Catherine and William Elder of Astoria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Fisher School's endowment fund, in care of Riverview Abbey Funeral Home, 0319 S.W. Taylors Ferry Road, Portland, 97219.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Portland. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland.
