OCEAN PARK, Wash. - The American Red Cross Blood Services is urging blood donors to take time out of their busy schedules to roll up their sleeves and donate blood or platelets.

All eligible donors are asked to schedule an appointment to donate blood from 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Peninsula Baptist Church, 23802 Pacific Highway 103 in Ocean Park.

With only a few weeks before the start of the school season, the Red Cross urges all current and eligible new donors who have not given blood this summer to help combat the region's shortage by donating blood.

Any healthy person age 18 or older, or age 16 or 17 with signed parental consent, weighing at least 110 pounds, with valid identification, may be eligible to donate blood.

To make a donation appointment, call (866) 961-9211 or schedule online at www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation, Sponsor Code: peninsula.
