SEASIDE - A downed power line in Seaside left close to 3,000 Pacific Power customers in the dark at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.
"By 3 p.m. we were able to get almost 2,000 customers back up by switching around," said Bekky Witt, a spokeswoman for Pacific Power.
Lt. Dave Ham of the Seaside Police Department said the outage was caused by construction at the cove at the south of town.
"A crane operator had got his cargo into the line," Ham said. "It disrupted or broke the line."
Police officers provided traffic control until Pacific Power got on the scene and directed traffic until the stoplights came back on. Power was restored by 4:15 p.m.
