A Miss Vivian Pub Crawl and the 2nd Annual Shanghaied Costume Ball will be held Saturday.

"Shanghaied in Astoria" fans are welcome to get aboard the Sunset Empire Transit District "Trolley Bus" for a jumping tour of Astoria's "Shanghai Trap Doors," starting at 6 p.m. at The Moose Lodge, 407 17th St. in Astoria.

At each stop, passengers will be asked to vote for their favorite cocktail and favorite "Miss Vivian" by purchasing specially created "Viv Buttons" sold as a fundraiser for Astor Street Opry Company. Each dollar raised, counts as a vote for your Miss Vivian gal or guy. This is truly an election that can be bought!

The ball will feature the official crowning of "Miss Vivian 2005" by "Miss Vivian 2004" Mary Todd of The Workers Bar & Grill, at the Moose Lodge from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Costumes are optional but there are those who like to show off their "turn-of-the-century" (either century) finery and spend the evening partying and dancing to the music of the popular North Coast band The Pagan Pancakes. The event includes prizes for costumes, the crowning of Miss Vivian and lots of finger food.

Admission is $5 per person or $8 a couple at the door. And minors are welcome. Discount tickets are available at all Shanghaied performances. Call 325-6104 to sign up for the Miss Vivian Pub Crawl. Spaces are limited. A $5 donation to ASOC is suggested.

The 21st Season of "Shanghaied in Astoria" runs through Sept. 10 every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with Sunday matinees Aug. 14 and Sept. 4. Ticket Prices range from $8 to 17, with some group, senior and child rates.
