SEASIDE — A Clatsop County Narcotics Team investigation led to the arrest of two people Monday afternoon on methamphetamine related charges.

Drug Task Force detectives witnessed a high volume of drug related activity at 940 Third Ave., in Seaside, which is within 1,000 feet of Broadway Middle School and appeared to be related to a significant amount of methamphetamine delivery in the area, officers said.

With the assistance of Seaside police officers, detectives executed a search warrant at the house and contacted Virginia Ann Benedict, 56. She was found to be in possession of scoops, digital scales and drug packaging material, which are used in the process of preparing drugs for sale as well as syringes, methamphetamine pipes and methamphetamine packaged for delivery.

Benedict was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine as well as manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. Detectives also found what is believed to be stolen property taken from a local business. Benedict was transported to the Clatsop County Jail.

Also located in the residence, was Desirai Sky Schehl, 21, also a resident of Seaside. Detectives witnessed Schehl trafficking drugs from the house and believed her to be a “runner,” transporting and delivering methamphetamine from the house on behalf of Benedict.

Schehl was arrested on a probation violation and lodged at the Clatsop County Jail.
