Domenic Chiacco of Gibsonia, Pa., and Linda Cheuvront of Astoria announce the engagement of their daughter, Danielle Marie Chiacco of Derwood, Md., to Emmett Monroe Rose III, also of Derwood. He is the son of Jack and Laurinda Rose of North Las Vegas, Nev. 

The bride-to-be attended Knappa High School and received a bachelor's degree in international law and diplomacy cum laude from the University of Oregon, and a master's degree in international peace and conflict resolution from American University in Washington, D.C. She has worked in Brazil, South Africa, and Haiti on human rights, health and development and war trauma issues. She is currently an administrative member of Foxhall Surgical Associates in Washington, and is pursuing a foreign service career.
