A hit-and-run case has led to a number of search warrants and arrests involving drug sales at an Astoria apartment complex.

The Astoria Police Department, with help from the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, seized almost three ounces of marijuana after serving search warrants on two apartments in the Riverine apartment complex at 1400 W. Marine Drive on June 1. The searches followed the investigation of a hit-and-run traffic case at the Riverine that turned up evidence of marijuana sales to juveniles at two apartments.

Information discovered at the apartments led to another search warrant being issued for a residence at 92397 Koppisch Road, Astoria, where Astoria police and members of the Clatsop County interagency Narcotics Task Force Friday found evidence of drug sales. Police also arrested a resident of the house, Austin E. Taylor, 20, for violating a restraining order by possessing a firearm.

During the search, police also contacted Robert Henry Vonbargen, 57, who was staying in a trailer on the property. Vonbargen, a registered sex offender in Clatsop County, was arrested on three outstanding felony warrants for parole violation and lodged in Clatsop County Jail.

Several other suspects in the case have been identified, and the investigation is continuing.
