WARRENTON - The Lewis and Clark Explorer Shuttle will begin weekend operations Saturday. The hourly route begins at 10:15 a.m. at Fort Clatsop's Visitor Center, connects to Sunset Beach and loops through Warrenton with stops at Fort Stevens, KOA and Fred Meyer before returning to Fort Clatsop.

The shuttle will stop at Sunset Beach Fort to Sea Trailhead parking lot at 30 minutes past the hour starting at 10:30 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m.

Fare for the shuttle is $1.25, except when visiting Fort Clatsop; the shuttle fare is included in the entrance fee to Fort Clatsop. For information on the schedule and route, log on to (www.ridethebus.org) or call 861-RIDE.

To hike the Fort to Sea Trail, it is suggested that hikers leave their cars at Sunset Beach, ride the Explorer Shuttle to Fort Clatsop and hike on the return to the car. The trail is 6.5 miles from Fort Clatsop's Visitor Center to Sunset Beach. For a map, ask the ranger at the Visitor Center or visit (www.nps.gov/lewi)

The Visitor Center parking lots are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, call the park at 861-2471.
