A 2012 Fall Select Area Fisheries informational meeting will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Oregon State University Seafood Research Conference Room, 2001 Marine Drive, No. 253, in Astoria

The purpose of the meeting is to present the 2012 Select Area fall salmon return expectations and to solicit public involvement in the commercial and recreational fall fishery planning process.

The agenda will include a review of 2011 fall and 2012 winter/spring fisheries (to date) in Youngs Bay, the Tongue Point/South Channel, Blind Slough/Knappa Slough and Deep River. There will be a discussion about the 2012 expected return of fall chinook and coho to the Select Areas.

The management of Select Area fall season fisheries will also be discussed, including management constraints, harvest considerations, staff recommendations and the compact and joint state meeting schedule.
