A construction flagger was seriously injured Monday when she was struck by a vehicle on U.S.?Highway 101 near the Reed and Hertig meat packing plant.

Oregon State Police have cited a driver and are continuing to investigate the incident.

Just before 10:30 a.m., a red Suzuki Wagon, driven by Thomas Chatterton, 76, of Seaside, was northbound on the highway near milepost 14, when he entered a construction zone where Tammy Cochen, 47, of Sandy, was standing with a stop sign.

Cochen was sideswiped by ChattertonÂ’s vehicle and received serious injuries.

Medix Ambulance Service transported Cochen to Columbia Memorial Hospital. Chatterton was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
