THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST OREGON AND SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON, INCLUDING THE NORTH OREGON COAST, THE WASHINGTON COAST AND WILLAPA HILLS UNTIL 7 PM THIS EVENING.

ANOTHER ROUND OF HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING. ANOTHER 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED AGAIN TODAY. THIS COUPLED WITH THE 2 TO 4.5 INCHES OF RAIN THAT FELL YESTERDAY WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE FLOOD CONCERNS, ESPECIALLY ON SMALL STREAMS AND THE GRAYS RIVER.

THE GRAYS RIVER IN WAHKIAKUM COUNTY WILL LIKELY RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS MAY ALSO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS. URBAN STREET FLOODING IS ALSO LIKELY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS. LANDSLIDES AND DEBRIS FLOWS ARE POSSIBLE DURING THIS FLOOD EVENT. PEOPLE, STRUCTURES AND ROADS LOCATED BELOW STEEP SLOPES, IN CANYONS AND NEAR THE MOUTHS OF CANYONS MAY BE AT SERIOUS RISK FROM RAPIDLY MOVING LANDSLIDES.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
