While the Astoria baseball team prepares to host its first-round game vs. North Marion Tuesday, a few ex-Fishermen were battling each other at the collegiate level Saturday.

Tom Jaworski and the Mt. Hood Community College Saints took on Clackamas College in a loser-out contest of the NWAACC baseball tournament at David Story Field in Longview, Wash.

Top-ranked Mt. Hood scored a 9-1 victory over the Cougars to eliminate Clackamas, while Bellevue finished off Mt. Hood Sunday, 5-2.

In Saturday's contest, Clackamas pitcher Matt Brause made a relief appearance and struck out two of the six batters he faced, while teammate Brendan Landwehr went 1-for-4 at the plate.

Gulls football camp setSeaside High School football will host a Spring Football Camp June 1 through 3 and June 8 and 9.

The camp is for all returning players and the eighth-graders from Broadway Middle School, and will be held at the high school from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The camp is free for all who attend.

Hole-in-oneBarbra Foley of Portland scored a hole-in-one at Gearhart Golf Links Monday. She aced the 84-yard No. 15 hole using a 9-iron.
