Clatsop County's new community development supervisor is a familiar face. Barbara Robinson, a planner for the city of Astoria four years ago, will return Sept. 13 to start her new job with the county.
"Barbara brings 25 years of land-use and local government management experience, as well as enthusiasm, a positive attitude and familiarity with the community," Community Development Director Kathleen Sellman said. "We are excited to have Barbara join our staff."
The community development supervisor, a new position for the county, oversees the day-to-day land-use planning services and steps in to run the department in Sellman's absence. The Community Development Department also provides economic development and building codes services and administers the CEDC Fisheries Project.
Robinson has been the Community Development director for the City of Shelton, Wash., since 2001, and was that city's senior planner for two years. She worked for the city of Astoria from 1991 to 1999 under then-Community Development Director Paul Benoit. She also worked for the cities of Eugene, Gresham, Port Angeles, Wash., and for Kitsap County, Wash.
