The Lower Columbia Power Squadron and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 64 will conduct courtesy vessel safety checks in Astoria from 9 a.m., to 1 p.m. Saturday at the John Day Boat Ramp, east of Astoria on U.S. Highway 30.

The vessel examiners are experienced boaters trained to know the latest boating regulations and safety equipment needs.

A "seal of safety" will be fixed to all vessels found to be safe. If an item is outdated or missing, the examiners will suggest appropriate corrections to the owner.

This service is free . For details, contact David Wilson at 861-0709.
