A citizen advisory committee hits the road May 31 to inspect three Clatsop County parklands. The Clatsop County Recreational Lands Planning Advisory Committee will visit John Day County Park, Big Creek County Park and the Westport boat ramp.

Committee members will conduct onsite inventories, check conditions of the parks, and evaluate possible improvements and recommendations outlined in the county's 2006 parks master plan.

The public is invited to participate and express ideas and opinions. Limited seating is available on county-provided vans or people can follow in their own vehicles. Reservations for a seat on a van must be made by Friday by calling 325-9306. Participants should bring a sack lunch and dress appropriately for the weather.

The committee will meet at 10 a.m. at John Day Park on U.S. Highway 30 just east of Astoria and travel to Big Creek park in Knappa and the Westport boat ramp. The group will spend about 45 minutes at each site and return to John Day park around 2 p.m.
