BANKS - The Seaside girls golf team is in prime condition for a league title after one round of play in the District 1/3A championships.
With a 427 team score, Seaside is 38 strokes ahead of second-place Tillamook (465). And with today's final round on their home course at Gearhart, it's a good bet the Gulls' lead will hold up for a league championship.
The real race could be for the district's second spot to state, as the Lady Mooks lead Astoria (475) by just 10 strokes.
Individually, Astoria's Marlie Cokley and Riverdale's Kera Tucker are tied atop the leaderboard at 87.
With just four golfers competing in the first round, Seaside was led by Alyson Fields (97), followed by Abbie Huddleston (101), Melissa King (107) and Monica Osburn (122).
