Wow, what a party that was!

Astoria and the entire North Coast was working to get back to normal today after a 200th anniversary celebration fit for the ages.

The Astoria Bicentennial and the 117th annual Astoria Regatta were combined with a Reba McEntire concert at Camp Rilea that delighted a crowd of about 6,000.

Astoria Mayor Willis Van Dusen and Astoria Regatta President Eric Paulson joined Paulette McCoy, director of the Astoria Bicentennial Committee, and the committee’s honorary president, Edith Henningsgaard Miller, in welcoming some top guests to the event.

They included Lord Astor of Hever, John Jacob Astor VIII, a member of the British House of Lords, who took part with his wife, Lady Elizabeth Astor, and their children, Charles Astor, 20, and Olivia Astor, 18. Here from New York was Jackie Astor Drexel, granddaughter of John Jacob Astor IV, who died aboard the Titanic.
