CANNON BEACH - A Portland surfer was rescued Monday night after a 9-1-1 caller reported that a man was clinging to the rocks at Indian Beach in Ecola Park.

U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue personnel responded.

The helicopter was able to locate the surfer. The crew dropped down a rescue basket and Ryan Egge, 31, climbed in.

Egge was taken to emergency medical personnel at Seaside Airport. He had no reported injuries.
