WARRENTON - Seaside Police assisted in ending a high speed chase along U.S. Highway 101 from Manzanita to Warrenton Saturday evening, May 26.

The chase began after a woman in a white car failed to yield to a Manzanita Police officer. The chased reportedly reached speeds of 80 miles an hour north along Highway 101 past Canon Beach and into Seaside where Oregon State Police troopers and the Seaside Police joined the pursuit

Seaside Police worked to keep other traffic clear of the chase it continued through Seaside. Other law enforcement officers laid spike strips in the roadway ahead of the pursuit near Warrenton.

Initial reports are that the car hit the spike strips, slowed and came to a stop near Perkins Lane.

As police took the women into custody they called in medics to check her out. Unconfirmed reports are that the woman was arrested for DUII.

Authorities have yet to release the woman's name or her condition.
