Hilda Lahti School is one of 11 middle schools receiving recognition as having a high-achieving student council. The award, sponsored by the Oregon Association of Student Councils, sets high standards for councils and honors them when they achieve them.

Councils begin by setting goals in the fall, and participate throughout the year. In order to receive the award, councils must be involved in school and community service, activities to promote school spirit and pride, sportsmanship, student and staff recognition and involvement in leadership training and sound practices.

The school will be recognized at the annual OASC Spring Conference, which will be held Sunday and Monday in Eugene.
