U.S. BANK has named its 2006 Five Star Volunteer Award recipients, and JULIA RICHERT, assistant relationship manager for commercial lending of the Astoria Branch for the last four years, is one of them. The program, which began in 2005, recognizes outstanding employees who also contribute to their communities as volunteers. For the last seven years, Richert has volunteered at the Lower Columbia Hospice in Astoria.

In an interesting twist, she was nominated for the award by her boss, U.S. Bank Regional President KEVIN LACOSTE, who was a Five Star Award winner last year for his work with Seaside's Thugz off Drugz recovery program.
