The ARCH CAPE INN AND RETREAT got a "perfect stay" review at the BEDANDBREAKFAST.COM blog (http://tinyurl.com/archcapebb), which the Ear read after being tipped off by the Inn's owner, CYNTHIA MALKWOSKI.

Of special note were the raves about their chef, JONATHAN HOFFMAN, 27, pictured above at left, "who grows his own herbs, hand picks berries and personally purchases his ingredients from local organic gardeners and farms."

A graduate of the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, Hoffman was also part of the presentation of the Oregon Summer Dinner Aug. 27 at the prestigious James Beard House in New York. STEPHEN MALKWOSKI, Cynthia's husband and co-owner of the Inn, told the Ear that it was the young chef's first visit to New York, adding that guests write about Hoffman in the guest book, saying "he's a rock star."

Hoffman has now been invited to participate in the United Way of Clatsop County's Iron Chef Goes Coastal event on Sept. 17 at the Seaside Convention Center. Tickets are being sold at the Convention Center, the United Way office and US Banks in Astoria, Seaside and Cannon Beach.
