Pembroke - A bike ride across America may sound like quite a challenge, but compared to children struggling with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, it's a relatively small task.

That's why the 10th Gear Christian Youth Cyclists have decided to donate the proceeds from their cross-country trek to the Jett Foundation, a Pembroke organization that strives to promote awareness of DMD and fund medical research to improve the quality of life for children with the disease. ...

The cyclists will leave Boston on June 21, the first day of summer, and fly to Seaside, Ore., where their journey begins. They will ride 3,800 miles across 14 states in nine weeks in hopes of helping the Jett Foundation reach its $1 million goal.
