SEASIDE - Joan Yasui, granddaughter of the Masuo Yasui family, will give a talk at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in the community room at Seaside Public Library, 1131 Broadway. The talk will be based on her family history as outlined in the 2009 Oregon Reads book "Stubborn Twig," by Lauren Kessler. The book outlines three generations of the Yasui family as they emigrate from Japan to America at the beginning of the 20th century and settle in Hood River. It was selected by the Oregon Library Association as a book for Oregon communities to read and discuss.

In her presentation, Yasui will share important moments growing up as a third generation (sansei) grandchild of the Hood River Yasui family, through personal stories and mounted photos.
