SEASIDE - Seaside Police are investigating a string of burglaries that occurred early Tuesday morning in north Seaside.
Sundial Travel Service, Farmers Insurance, Hair by Penshekay, Silverstone Management, Olstedt Construction, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Seaside Spa and Wellness Center had all been broken into, with damage to windows and doors. Also, items had been stolen from approximately 30 cars parked in a nearby parking lot, Detective Sergeant Steve Barnett said.
Officers took two 15-year-old and one 14-year-old males into custody for investigation and interviews. Charges of first-degree theft and second-degree burglary were referred to the juvenile department and the youth were released to responsible adults. It is reported that one of the 15-year-olds was already on probation for burglary, Barnett said.
Based on investigation and interviews, police believe that the juveniles may be responsible for nine or more total business burglaries, including past burglaries. It appears that no weapons were used during the burglaries and the juveniles broke windows and forced open doors to gain access to the businesses.
Police have recovered about $5,000 in stolen property. A total of damage to the buildings is not available. Officers will continue the investigation today, Barnett said.
