As her senior project, McKenzie VanOsdol, a student at Knappa High School, will hold a dog walk on Saturday. The walk will be one mile around Coffenbury Lake in Fort Stevens State Park. Everyone and their dogs are welcome, but all dogs must be on leashes. Registration is from noon to 1 p.m., and costs $15 for one dog, and $5 for each additional dog. The parking fee is $5.
The registration fee includes a barbecue lunch with cake. There will also be several raffle items. Raffle tickets will cost $1 each or $5 for six, and can be purchased at the time of registration. All of the proceeds will go to the Clatsop County Animal Shelter.
"The main purpose of the walk is to make people more aware of the animal abuse that is going on, and to help educate them," VanOsdol said. "The animals don't have a voice like we do to ask to stop, so we need to help them."
