Teachers and principals of Clatsop County are excited to meet the Class of 2026.

Parents of children who will be turning 5 years old before Sept. 1 need to attend Kindergarten Round-Up to register and prepare their children for fall 2013 kindergarten classes.

Kindergarten Round-Up sessions are scheduled for the following dates and schools:

On April 23 there will be three kindergarten roundups, including:

• Cannon Beach Elementary School, 268 Beaver St., at 3 p.m.;

• Seaside Heights Elementary School, 2000 Spruce Drive, at 3 p.m.; and

• Jewell School, 83874 Oregon Highway 103, at 12:30 p.m.

On April 25 there will be four roundups, including:

• John Jacob Astor Elementary School, 3550 Franklin Ave., at 3:30 and 6 p.m.;

• Gearhart Elementary School, 1002 Pacific Way, at 3 p.m.;

• Hilda Lahti Elementary School (Knappa), 41535 Old U.S. Highway 30, at 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.; and

• Warrenton Grade School, 820 S.W. Cedar Ave., at 6 p.m.

At Kindergarten Round-Up, students and parents will get the chance to meet kindergarten teachers, the principal and many other important people in their 5-year-olds’ educational lives. A tour of the kindergarten classroom and other parts of the school are planned. Every attending child who is registered for kindergarten will receive a Class of 2026 T-shirt.

By registering children now, parents will establish good communication with their children’s school and help their children be successful on their first day. Parents should bring their children’s birth certificates and immunization records. If help is needed in obtaining either of those documents, staff will be available.
