KNAPPA - Phone and Internet services were disrupted in Astoria and Knappa Tuesday after a cable was cut.
"A contractor was digging and they pulled the cable out," Knappa Fire Chief Paul Olheiser said.
Knappa's 9-1-1 calls, which normally go through Astoria, had to be rerouted to the Knappa Fire Station while the system was down from about 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. However, some cell phones could be used, Olheiser said. "Mostly, it was an inconvenience," he said.
A Qwest representative said the company is still working to fix the problem.
