NASELLE, WASH. - The Knappton Cove Heritage Center will celebrate Historic Preservation Month by holding an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Heritage Center, 521 State Route 401, in Naselle, Wash. There will be light refreshments and an opportunity to learn about historic preservation plans for the site.

Columbia River's "Ellis Island," the quarantine hospital museum was where thousands of immigrants passed through a required health inspection upon their entry into the U.S.

Those wishing to join the Knappton Cove Heritage Center may do so for an annual membership fee of $5. Tax-deductible donations are also welcome to contribute to the funding of a new roof and other repairs. Volunteer opportunities include helping with tour groups and school field trips and becoming a museum host.
