The Liberty Theater had a problem. Managers needed money for operating costs of the 86-year-old building. Theater directors figured they needed to come up with approximately half of the monthly amount of $28,000 it costs to run the place.
A fundraiser was planned. However, for the first time the purpose was to raise money for day-to-day costs and not renovation. A goal of $70,000 was set, and the event was scheduled for Tuesday.
