Hiring qualified and responsible employees is one of the most important tasks of owning a business. With a grim economy and unemployment on the rise, the importance of proper hiring only becomes more difficult.

To help employers in this effort, WorkSource Northwest Oregon and MTC Works have teamed up to organize the annual Clatsop County Job & Career Fair. The event will be held at the Seaside Convention Center on April 22, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

"We're simply trying to remove some of the barriers and interference that keep employers and potential employees apart," said Lori Bell, a county supervisor with MTC Works and Job Fair committee member.

Event planners are currently seeking employers who would like to have a booth at the job fair. Clatsop County businesses looking for employees are particularly encouraged to participate.

Last years event had an attendance of 378 job seekers looking to fill 225 available positions. Potential employees ranged from students looking for seasonal work to professionals attempting to change careers.

Interested employers should register by April 10. There is no fee for vendors and space is limited to 100 booths, so interested companies should register as early as possible.

Registration forms are available online at www.mtcworks.com/2009jobfair or by calling Linda Wyss of the Oregon Employment Department at (503) 325-4821. Questions may be directed to Wyss by phone, or by email, Linda.l.wyss@state.or.us.
