Emily Smith, Broker ABR, CRS, of Pete Anderson Realty in Astoria spoke recently during a national convention of certified residential specialists in San Francisco.

Smith attended the CRS "Sellabration" convention in February, speaking during two "break out" sessions regarding short sales, foreclosures and REO (real estate owned) properties.

She spoke about the emotional impact the current market can have on realtors.

"Completing a short sale successfully takes immense patience, diligence and commitment. It is not for the meek of heart," Smith said. "Time is of the essence, and sometimes there just isn't enough time for a short sale to be completed before the property goes into foreclosure."

Smith has been a realtor since 2004, and recently served as the 2008 President of the Clatsop Association of Realtors.
