Astoria Mayor Arline LaMear will soon be making appointments to advisory boards and commissions, and the city is taking applications to fill vacancies.
The Planning Commission and Hospital Authority have one vacancy each; the Historic Landmarks Commission has three vacancies; and the 3R Committee has four vacancies.
The selection of board and commission members is a function of the mayor using recommendations from the City Council, city staff and department heads, and through volunteer applications.
Volunteer committees give citizens the opportunity to be involved in the community.
A brief description of the various boards and commissions is included on the Citizen Advisory Committees Application Form. Anyone interested in serving on any of the committees can access the application at http://astoria.or.us/Citizen_Advisory_Committee_Form.aspx.
The form is also available in the Mayor’s Office on the third floor of City Hall.
To apply for vacancies, submit an application form to the Mayor’s Office by 5 p.m. Dec. 9. Appointments will be made at the Dec. 19 City Council meeting.
