The national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has awarded the Lower Columbia Human Resources Management Association (LCHRMA) the Excel Gold Award, a recognition component of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE), for its work in 2012.

Affiliates like the Lower Columbia group develop and pursue local goals organized to support the community, the chapter’s viability and effectiveness, and the human resources profession.

These goals for 2012 covered activities that supported workforce readiness; promoted diversity and inclusion; shared information on human resources-related legislation and government affairs; offered continuing education opportunities locally; promoted human resources as a career; and offered educational scholarships to local youth.
