A lost hiker on Saddle Mountain wandered three miles before being rescued Saturday night. Elizabeth L. Cole, 25, of Astoria was uninjured and in good condition.

Cole's mother, Nancy, reported her missing at 9:16 p.m. after last hearing from her daughter by cell phone about 5:30 p.m. She reported her daughter had been hiking on Saddle Mountain.

Clatsop County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Dimmick found Cole's car at the park, and Clatsop County Search and Rescue was called out. A K-9 unit, three ground team members, five explorers, three deputies and an Oregon State Police trooper responded.

Searchers scoured the main trail and the camping area at the base of the mountain, and began searching roads. At 12:45 a.m., a 9-1-1 dispatcher advised that Cole had been reached by cell phone and said she was lost on a logging road near a bridge, so searchers began focusing on roads off Lewis and Clark Mainline and connecting roads.

Deputy Justin Dimmick and Trooper Deann Rzewnicki found Cole at 2:12 a.m. on Fall Creek Mainline. They took her back to her vehicle. She had walked more than three miles from the parking lot.
