An Astoria man accused of forcing a woman into his car Friday, holding a gun to her head and threatening to force her to go to Washington state with him is in Clatsop County Jail.

Johnny Glenn Voiles, 33, of 35370 Mudd Lane, Astoria, is charged with first-degree kidnapping, menacing, harassment and possession of a controlled substance. Robert Maxfield, Warrenton police chief, said a witness saw Voiles threatening the woman in a church parking lot at 1400 S. Main Ave. and called police at 3:56 p.m. Friday. Voiles and the victim knew each other, Maxfield said, and were driving separate cars when Voiles began flashing his lights at her to get her to stop, and then forced her into his vehicle.

At 11:25 p.m. Friday, Warrenton police arrested Voiles in Astoria at Fourth Street and Olney Avenue. He was taken to Clatsop County Jail. Astoria police assisted with the arrest. Voiles is set to be arraigned today in Clatsop County Circuit Court.
