Dramatic color photographs of the Columbia River by Astoria photographer DAVID LEE MYERS graced the stage at the successful "Spirit of the River" benefit Sept. 22 at Astoria's Performing Arts Center.
Pictured above, sampling Columbia River salmon hors d'oeuvres, are (from left) CAROL CARVER of Puget Island, Wash.; DR. ROBERT MICHAEL PYLE, a naturalist and author from Grays Harbor, Wash., who was the featured speaker; and JUDY GARDNER and EDWARD PANCOAST, both of Danville, Calif.
"We are heartened that opponents of the proposed liquefied natural gas terminals on the Columbia River gathered from Oregon, Washington and California to raise money for Columbia Riverkeeper," said CHERYL JOHNSON of Brownsmead. She chaired the evening of entertainment and a silent art auction.
