MANZANITA - Residents should mark their calendars for an upcoming open house about the Manzanita Downtown Transportation Plan.

Scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. March 8, the session will offer a review of proposed design concepts, an opportunity to provide comments and a chance to learn how to be involved.

Consultant planners and engineers from the firms CH2M HILL and Alta Planning + Design are set to be on hand to present draft transportation concepts and to collect input, according to City Manager Jerry Taylor.

The transportation plan addresses three main issues: the safety and operation of U.S. Highway 101 intersections; the future design of Laneda and Manzanita avenues; and the extension to the south proposed for Classic Street.

The draft concepts were reviewed by the city-appointed project advisory committee.

Following the open house, the concepts will be refined and packaged into a downtown transportation plan which will be reviewed by the project advisory committee.

For information, call Taylor at (503) 368-5343.
