Marian Elizabeth Towne, 89, of Astoria, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 in Astoria.

She was born May 4, 1916 in Nehalem to Emil Anderson, Sr., and Helen Lydick Anderson.

Mrs. Towne grew up and received her education in Nehalem. Her family moved to Astoria.

She married William "Bill" Towne in Astoria on Sept. 2, 1938. He survives and lives at their home in Astoria.

Mrs. Towne was a homemaker all of her life. Her husband remembers she was a wonderful cook, especially pastries. He also said she loved to dance.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Gary Towne of Astoria, Dennis and Penny Towne of Lake Oswego, David and Pat Towne of Gresham and Steven and Beth Towne of North Port, Wash.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Emil Anderson of Warrenton and Howard and Pat Anderson of Seaside; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Craig Towne in 1978 and a brother, Jim Anderson.

Mrs. Towne requested no funeral services.
