SEASIDE - Ken Meiser, executive director of the Seaside Chamber of Commerce, has resigned.

"I just felt that it was time," Meiser said. "Something had to be done to shake things up."

A new director will have fresh ideas and change the way things are done, which will help keep the chamber from getting stagnant, Meiser said.

Meiser is still a member of the chamber and will continue to represent it on the Seaside Public Safety Committee unless the chamber board decides otherwise. The job is very difficult, especially during the Seaside Volleyball Tournament in August, Meiser said.

"The staff that I've had has been absolutely wonderful," Meiser said. "I've had a lot of fun over the last 51/2 years. But I feel that I've done all that I can do."

He is relieved to have the weight of decision-making off his shoulders. "I've slept a little easier at night," he said.
