Riley Gallinger-Long recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program, which allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school, at the Navy Recruiting District in Portland. He will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill.

Gallinger-Long is completing his senior year at Forest Grove High School. He is the son of Susan J. Blanchard of Cornelius and Jeffery T. Gallinger of Seaside.
