Milton John Darms, 98, of Seaside, died Saturday, May 27, 2006, in Seattle.

He was born Nov. 24, 1907 in Napa, Calif., to John and Martha Darms. He graduated from Napa High School in 1926. He lived and worked on his parents' fruit farm until 1935, when he moved to Berkeley, Calif., to work as a driver for Langendorf Bakeries.

In 1936, he married Dorothy Dettling. She died in 2000.

They moved back to Napa in 1952, eventually living on a small orchard ranch near his childhood home.

Mr. Darms enjoyed growing peaches and other fruit. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and fishing throughout the Western states. In 2001, he moved to Clatsop Retirement Village in Astoria where he could be closer to his children.

He is survived by one son, Gregory Darms of Astoria; one daughter, Susan Darms of Seattle; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

One son, David Darms, died in 1985.

Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle is in charge of arrangements.
