You might have noticed a preponderance of U.S. Navy personnel walking around Downtown Astoria Wednesday. Rest assured, they haven’t replaced the U.S. Coast Guard.

The 3-year-old USS Dewey, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer homeported in San Diego, moored off Pier 1 in the Port of Astoria Wednesday to pick up about 200 members of the Navy League along its way to the Portland Rose Festival.
