The Portland-based Backstone Edge Band will offer an evening of popular music and film at the Coaster Theatre 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27.

Blackstone Edge features Philip Clayton-Thompson, vocalist, with musical director Dave Fleschner and several Portland musicians, including Eric Schrepel of Y La Bamba. The band performs popular songs to film clips, often projected on large screens.

The band takes its name from Britain’s Blackstone Edge. Clayton-Thompson formed Blackstone Edge Band with Fleschner, who spent 10 years on the road with Curtis Salgado.

Selections will include “Bésame Mucho,” “La Mer,” Sting’s “Fields of Gold” and “Bring Him Home” from Les Misérables.
