NASELLE, Wash. — A Naselle man remains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bail after an incident where he may have fired shots at his roommates and threatened to shoot police if they approached him.

Patrick Alan Gatens, 36, was booked into the Pacific County Jail July 17 on two counts of attempted murder and four counts of felon in possession of a firearm.

The incident began at 11:27 p.m. July 16 in the 300 block of Knappton Road in Naselle and was resolved when Gatens was arrested early the next day.

“Less than an hour after determining the suspect was not in the residence, an observant log truck driver spotted the suspect vehicle along the northbound shoulder of State Route 401 near milepost 10 in Naselle,” Johnson said. “He also reported that the suspect was walking north from the vehicle. Minutes later, the suspect was taken into custody at gunpoint.”

Gatens was interviewed and weapons were recovered.

Pacific County Sheriff Scott Johnson said because all the people involved live in the same residence it would also be considered a violation of the Domestic Violence Act.
