Nehalem - The Lower Nehalem Community Trust is having its first public gathering 2 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Nehalem City Park on 13th Street.
The Lower Nehalem Community Trust is a new organization whose leaders say is dedicated to preserving lands in the Neahkahnie Mountain and Lower Nehalem River area.
LNCT, which is incorporated as a nonprofit corporation, can accept donations of property, funds for property acquisition and operating expenses.
Board members are Vivi Tallman of Falcon Cove, Gareth Ferdun and Georgenne Ferdun from Anderson Road, Doug Firstbrook from Nehalem and Judy Sorrell, Tom Bender and Lane deMoll of Neahkahnie.
After a presentation by the board and a chance for questions, there will be a potluck with light finger food, barbecued oysters and drinks. Local musicians will play.
