Oregon businesses now have a free Web-based service to offer their products and expertise to other companies.

The Northwest Connectory is an on-line database that contains detailed profiles of Pacific Northwest companies across all industries at all levels of the supply chain.

Dennie Houle, business development officer with Business Oregon, said the new Web service is specifically geared to manufacturers or businesses with technical expertise that may meet the needs of other companies.

Business Oregon and the Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition have partnered to provide the program to Oregon businesses. The program is similar to one that serves the national defense industry in California, Houle said.

The Northwest Connectory's database contains detailed company profiles, supplied by the company. Profiles include information describing the specific capabilities, products and services offered by each company.

"It's a great way for businesses to connect with other companies that can use their products or services," said Rick Gardner, director of Clatsop Economic Development Resources (CEDR), which is helping to promote the new program among Clatsop County businesses.
