Seaside - The Seaside Police Department, along with officers from Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, will participate in the 3-Flags Campaign to use safety belts and child restraints beginning Monday and running through June 4.

It coincides with the national Click-It-or-Ticket campaign. Officers will be enforcing safety-belt usage and child-restraint devices.

Oregon law requires all occupants of passenger vehicles to properly use safety belts. In motor homes and pickup trucks, safety belts are required to be used if they are provided. Children younger than 4 or weighing less than 40 pounds must be restrained in child seats. Children older than 4 and weighing more than 40 pounds must use booster seats until they are 6 years old and weigh at least 60 pounds.

The Seaside Police Department has a certified technician to answer questions and inspect child safety seats.
