Astoria and Goonie fan JAESON KOSZARSKY of State College, Pa., keeps an eye on what’s going on here on the North Coast and in Oregon, so he sent the Ear this little nugget of information: Did you know there is a survey called the GALLUP-HEALTHWAYS WELL-BEING INDEX, which proclaims to reveal which states are happiest?

The results of the 2010 telephone survey, which included questions about six types of well-being, are in, and OREGON is at position 28. Not too bad, being in the middle, the Ear supposes. Our close neighbor Washington is at 12, by the way, and in case you’re wondering, Hawaii is at the top of the heap, and West Virginia is at the bottom.
